Reducing Inflammation and Clutter

If we make subtle changes to our diet and lifestyle and have our emotions in check, we can live long and healthy lives. As always, I cannot emphasize the importance of peace of mind enough. When we breathe deeply and calmly, we can make good decisions throughout our day. Stress is a killer. Often we eat foods that we know are bad for us due to our emotional state of mind. Meditation can lead us to peace throughout our day. All we have to do is remember the blissful feelings that we tap into when we meditate. It is hard to make bad decisions when we are in a peaceful state of mind.

One way to achieve peace is through the organization of our homes and workspace. Eliminate clutter. My mother just passed away on May 21 from a long fight with cancer. As we go through her home, we see how much excess she had of almost everything. It is nearly comical. More is not always better. As Americans, we tend to overdo everything: excessive clothing, food, restaurant preparations, and portions.

Our lifestyles affect our health and, of course, our skin. Rosacea and other skin issues are from inflammation. So are cancer and other autoimmune disorders and diseases. We CAN make a difference in our lives by paying attention to the little things in life. As I stated so many times before, deep breathing, peace of mind, and tapping into our hearts can lead us on a joyous, healthy path.

I would love to have everyone who has a bathtub take my Algae Fine Powder baths with the addition of my Calming Bath (a combo of algae and essential oils to relax and detox you deeply) regularly. It will help you become healthy and maintain your health and wellness simply by soaking in a clean tub for 45 minutes.

While you are in the bathtub, apply one of my masks to repair and maintain your skin. The Hydrating Gel Mask will soothe your skin and help to rehydrate it after sun exposure. The Sea Clay Mask and The Pore Minimizing Face Mask help maintain a clear complexion while tightening your skin, increasing your circulation in your face and neck, and feeding your skin the nutrients it needs to be healthy. The Sea Clay Mask is also great to apply to mosquito bites. It helps them heal quickly and takes the itch away.

In addition to nourishing your skin, nourish your body with fresh organic fruits and vegetables, especially when they are so abundant in the summer. Here is a recipe for an Antioxidant Salad that is loaded with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants:

Antioxidant Salad

3 cups of watercress
2 cups chopped Tuscan kale
1 stick celery sliced
1 cup of arugula
1 Persian cucumber sliced
1/4 cup chopped Italian parsley
1/4 cup chiffonade basil
2 tablespoon of toasted slivered almonds

Wash all vegetables and herbs. Dry well. Place in a serving bowl.

Add toasted nuts and dressing.

Dressing: juice of one large lemon plus the grated rinds, 3-4 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, 1 teaspoon of Himalayan salt, 1/2 teaspoon of fresh ground pepper, and 1 teaspoon of dried oregano. Mix well. Serves 2.
