According to Chinese philosophy, the under eye area represents the kidneys.  The kidneys are a sponge that filter your blood, if that sponge is dirty, your blood is dirty.  Eating processed foods or foods that have artificial flavorings and colorings are part of the problem.  

Our grandparents and their parents knew the value of pure food in our diets.  Now, many people want a quick fix and are not willing to take the time to work at their health.  I believe that you earn your beauty, there is no cream or mask that will help get rid of this. Those dark circles or fat pads under the eyes will only go away when you restore your body into a healthy and balanced functioning vessel.

Adzuki beans are great for cleaning the kidneys, along with burdock root which Italians peel like a carrot, sliced and sautéed in olive oil and garlic. 

By eating Adzuki bean soup and eating it a few times a week you will start going to the bathroom a LOT more everyday and cleanse your kidneys.  This is just what your body needs!

Why store the garbage in your system, get rid of it, this is the best thing you can do for your body and you will feel so much better and your skin will show the results.  My clients who take the time to make the soup are thrilled with the results.

This soup is very potent and healthy for you.  Beans are a carb, so please make sure your are exercising enough to burn them off.  It is worth it because of what they do for you. Your kidneys are the cleanser of your blood.  The cleaner your kidneys are the cleaner your blood will be. This is apparent if you have dark circles under your eyes or puffiness as well.

Recipe for Adzuki Bean Soup

2 cups adzuki beans, soaked overnight in large water bath

1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 small onion chopped

1 carrot, chopped

1 stalk celery, chopped

2 teaspoons cumin

1/2 teaspoon turmeric

1 tablespoon ground coriander 

3 garlic cloves, chopped

2 tablespoons freshly grated ginger

2 quarts chicken stock or vegetable stock or water

1 cup coconut milk

1 tablespoon of ponzu or soy sauce

Sea salt

Freshly ground pepper

1/2 cup freshly squeezed lime juice

1/2 cup freshly  chopped cilantro

Drain the beans, Place the beans along with 5 cups of cold water, in a large heavy- bottom pot and bring to a boil.  Cook 1 hour or until tender. Drain the beans and set aside.

Add both oils, all spices, garlic and onion to sauté pan.  Sauté for about 5 minutes to extract the flavor. Add the onions, carrots, celery to sauté mixture and cook for about 2-3 minutes.  Add cooked adzuki beans, ponzu or soy sauce, stock or water, and coconut milk. Simmer for an hour or so. Add fresh cilantro, if you are not fond of cilantro use parsley and lime juice right before serving.  Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
